IFR is examining the effects of Daisy Lake Dam operations on the productivity of salmon and steelhead in the Cheakamus River and restoration channels. Juvenile salmonids are monitored through the use of full-river fences, partial river traps and mark-recapture techniques. Electronic fish counter technology and telemetry are used to generate adult escapement estimates and determine spawner site selection, spawning distribution and fry production. IFR collaborates with the Squamish First Nation, Department of Fisheries and Oceans Tenderfoot Hatchery and staff from the Cheakamus Centre.
