IFR is conducting a 10-year monitoring program to examine the effects of Terzagi Dam operations on the productivity of steelhead, Chinook and coho in the Lower Bridge River. IFR combines electronic fish counter technology, radio and PIT telemetry, and streamwalk surveys to enumerate salmon and steelhead, locate critical spawning habitat, and assess the distribution of spawners. Combining technologies allows IFR to study ecological processes at relevant scales, and is a cost-effective approach for producing accurate estimates of escapement in large watersheds.
St’át’imc Eco-Resources Ltd. fisheries technicians are critical to the success of this project, completing fish sampling, tagging and tracking, as well as ensuring the proper maintenance of remote field sites.
