Project Overview

In partnership with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, and the Secwepemc Fisheries Commission, we operate a network of resistivity counters in the interior of British Columbia to enumerate Coho Salmon as they migrate into tributaries of the Fraser River (Steelhead Trout, Chinook Salmon, and Sockeye Salmon are also counted).

Resistivity counters are operated by remote solar power systems and validated using a continuous video record to ensure comprehensive data are collected throughout critical migration periods. Data from resistivity counters are used by our clients to estimate salmonid abundance in the Fraser River watershed and to improve salmon management and conservation.
